Christmas High Tea 2009

Here we go! Our 4th Annual Christmas High Tea. The menu is as follows:
cranberry and orange romaine salad
chicken pasta bake
turkey spinach spirals
benedictine cucumber tea sandwiches
sweet potato biscuits with ham
chocolate covered gingerbread boys and girls
variety of fresh scones
fat rascal snowflakes
victorian tea cakes
miniature cherry delights

We had a lovely Halloween Day during our 1st Annual Harvest Moon High Tea. Our customers really are THE BEST! We are so fortunate to have such fun loving and gracious guests dine with us. It was very fun to introduce new recipes and luckily everyone loved our new additions.
We look forward to making this High Tea an event every year during the fall. Thank you
to everyone that attended and thank you to the Ruby Pear girls that so readily
participate in our test kitchen!
Keep checking back for further details regarding our new additions within the tea parlor and also announcements for our Holiday Christmas High Teas. The dates are Sunday December 6th and Sunday December 13th. I will follow up with details in the next few days!

Big Changes....

Hello from Mary Ann! It's been a long few months, but big things are happening in my life and in the life of The Ruby Pear. I have finally moved to Noblesville! Yippee! So glad to be closer to the parlor and almost back to normal daily life. I purchased a home that needed a total renovation. What an adventure it has been! My dear Father has spent the past 6 weeks working on many things every single day. I have had countless family members and friends also helping and words will never be able to express my gratitude for their help. I could not have done it without them!

The Ruby Pear is hosting a new High Tea that I'm posting today! We hope to see you....please make your reservations soon, for we are hoping for a full house!

We are having a Special Artist Day this year and we are thrilled to feature Cynthia Richards. She has been selling her work in our parlor dining rooms for about 2 years and we feel very lucky to enjoy her beautiful flowers and teapots every day. Please visit us on August 15th from 11:00-2:00 to see more of Cynthia's work and meet her in person. We are sure you will love her as much as we do!
We are taking normal reservations for lunch that day, but there may be a snack or two available during the reception. Make your reservations quickly.

For the love of Piggys......

Oh, I am so incredibly embarassed that it has taken me so long to put an update on here. We had an amazing Mother's Day High Tea with I believe about 50-60 guests. Our menu was very well received and we always find it fun to have a new treat or two among the goodies. This year we introduced a new tea sandwich: Benedictine Cucumber and a new dessert: Walnut Derby Tartlet. Both were delicious, but the tea sandwich was out of this world! (if I do say so myself.....LOL) to the Piggys.....I know....strange title, but you will understand it in a couple of seconds. We have started a new small event called "The Piggyback Tea Party" which can be had by anyone. Our Sweet Sue and Queen Anne Tea Parties have a minimum of 10 required, but let's say that you only have 2 or 5 or 6 in your group and you would like to have a tea party. The Piggyback Tea Party is a way for a group of any size to enjoy a Tea Party at The Ruby Pear. There are four rules to follow when having a Piggyback Tea Party: You must have your party on the same day as a scheduled Sweet Sue or Queen Anne Tea Party, you must have the same menu as that party has planned, the price per person is the same as the planned party and you must reserve your seats a week ahead of time. You will be seated in your own area and not a part of the larger party. other words....check with us to see when our next Sweet Sue or Queen Anne Tea Party is scheduled and call your friends to come in for a Piggyback Tea Party!

Spring Special...

Well, it's time for a little something to keep us fresh. We are now serving our Spring Special luncheon tea. The lunch consists of a Salad with romaine lettuce, fresh strawberries, blueberries and pineapple, turkey breast, pecans and feta cheese with your choice of scone and a cup of tea for $10.95. We served our first customers today and so far it's a hit. I's just the first day, but they did love it! The most fun part about this special is the bowl that your salad is served in. We decided to have a little fun with our food!

By the way, we have added a "followers" box to our blog and we can't wait to see you listed! Hmmm....I feel an activity coming to my head...perhaps we will do a drawing once a month for a free scone if we get enough followers listed. We'll have to see how it goes.

Glenda Gies!

We are so excited to announce that we are getting our first shipment of Glenda Gies bags for the tea parlor. Once we receive them, we will get some photos and prices listed on here. Our online store is yet to come, but if you are interested in purchasing from us, all you have to do is send me an email and we'll get you taken care of.

These bags are just fantastic. Made of vintage style fabrics and high quality hardware, they are stylish, classic, European inspired and just all around adorable. We cannot wait to get them!

As I was reading a cookbook this evening that my Mom had given me in 1994, I came across the following recipe. In this crazy world we live in today and the ever present high level of stress, I thought it appropriate to publish.

Recipe for Life
1 c. good thoughts
1 c. kind deeds
1 c. consideration
2 c. sacrifice for others
3 c. forgiveness
2 c. well-beaten faults

Mix thoroughly with tears of joy and sorrow, as well as plenty of sympathy. Flavor well with gifts of love and kindness. Use 4 cups of prayer and faith to lighten other ingredients and raise the texture to great heights in daily living. Bake well in the heat of human kindness and serve with a smile.

A New Year!

Well, I am ashamed to say that it has been well over a month since posting a message. I truly cannot believe how quickly December flew by. It was an exciting, exhausting and utterly fulfilling month and we were so blessed to all remain healthy and able bodied during the hustle and bustle. Many many thanks to our faithful helpers Sandra and Robin for their loyalty and hard work during December.

Our Sweet Gift Boxes went over like a charm and we sold many that we shipped all over the country. Our farthest package this year traveled all the way to Oregon and arrived in tact and thrilled the recipient. She told us that it was like receiving a "tea party in a box"! We love the concept and are developing our brochure for our Sweet Gift boxes that can be purchased all year long. It's an exciting venture and new division in our that we desperately want to see expand.

We are also hopeful to go live this year with a store online. Talk about exciting! But also a lot of work, so be patient with us as we get this up and going in 2009. We have a very long wish list of things we want to change, things we want to improve and things we want to add, but most of all we hope that you will continue to visit us on a regular basis and enjoy what we have to offer.
